This site is a tribute to Alan Balenger. He is much loved and will always be remembered.
Rather than flowers Dad always wanted a donation to the Blind Veterans Association, as a thank you for all their support, encouragement and care over the past years.
When Dad started losing his eyesight, we contacted the BVA and he was assigned a Community Support Worker. She made regular home visits and ensured he had the best support and knew about all the available services and invited him to many functions and courses run by the BVA.
His last few years were spent as a resident with the BVA. Where the care and support of all the staff was amazing and helped him enjoy life as much as he was able to. During palliative care, he was made comfortable and his dignity was preserved.
As a family we are deeply indebted to all at the BVA.
Thank you for the donation and condolences slipped through the door.
Remembering many happy family times spent at Park Drive, enjoying Alan's lovely company and dry sense of humour. A very kind man, sadly missed.
